Is your electrician certified?
In Australia, certifications for practicing electricians are operated and monitored by relevant State bodies.
An electrical licence is legally required before any electrical wiring work can be undertaken in each Australian state, regardless of the cost or scope of the job, or whether the work is residential, commercial or industrial.

How do electricians qualify for a license?
There are various criteria set for who may apply to be licensed. The requirements cover many levels of basic and specialised education, and demand knowledge to a very rigorous level. All state agencies stipulate that a license holder must understand various state and federal acts and regulations.
However, to contract, or even to offer to contract, to carry out electrical work, a licensed electrician must also be registered as an electrical contractor in the relevant state.
